In today’s dynamic global landscape and performance-driven world, right-skilling and mentorship are essential for empowering youth to become employable and valuable assets in an increasingly competitive job market. This is where NIIT Foundation plays a crucial role, addressing these needs by equipping young individuals with the skills and guidance necessary for success.
Mentorship programs serve as a catalyst for streamlining and accelerating the careers of youth, offering specially curated support. These programs encompass a broad range of skills, from soft skills to technical, industry-specific expertise, helping young professionals enhance their career growth, explore diverse opportunities, and navigate different career paths across various sectors.
The organisation has launched a variety of mentorship and skill enhancement initiatives, targeted all age groups and reached individuals in both rural and urban areas. Among these initiatives are Financial Literacy programs, Digital Literacy programs, and school-specific programs, among many others.
As the government invests heavily in promoting financial transparency and inclusion, financial literacy has become a vital life skill to prevent scams and fraud. Recognizing the need to make financial education accessible to all, NIIT Foundation focuses its efforts on rural and semi-urban areas of India. The target audience includes students aged 14-17, who are preparing to enter the workforce, and adults aged 18 and above, who require financial literacy training. In Q1 FY 25, the foundation’s financial literacy program benefited 7,087 individuals.
The organisation has also launched a digital literacy initiative to promote digital inclusion, particularly among senior citizens. These projects cater to a broad spectrum of beneficiaries, ranging from ages 6 to 60. In FY23, NIIT Foundation enrolled 1.65 million participants and certified 1.38 million across various programs.
The beneficiaries of these initiatives are spread throughout the country, encompassing both urban and rural populations. Mentorship programs have empowered individuals from rural areas to achieve financial independence and contribute to their family income. These foundational skills enhancement programs provide a starting point for individuals to embark on their careers and explore various job opportunities. Additionally, basic financial and IT training has enabled rural youth to explore modern job roles and self-employment opportunities.
Mentorship programs empower underprivileged sections of society by making essential upskilling opportunities accessible to all, thereby promoting social justice and equal access to opportunities. The organisation has over to 2,00,000+ students thus playing a pivotal role in bridging the digital divide and enabling the elderly to lead more fulfilling lives through digital empowerment with over 30 career and skill development centers and more than 190 digital learning centers, NIIT Foundation is a pioneering NGO in the impact-driven education space.
