At NIIT Foundation, we believe in the quiet strength of everyday heroes – women who work tirelessly for their families and communities. Laxmi Sharma, from the small town of Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh, is one of these heroes.
For years, Laxmi managed her household as a homemaker and devoted herself to social work. Despite her hard work, she often found managing finances overwhelming. Concepts like budgeting, saving, or loans were unfamiliar to her, and, like many, she sometimes had to rely on local moneylenders to meet unexpected expenses. Without a savings buffer, financial worries lingered in the background of her daily life.
This changed when Laxmi joined the Financial Literacy Workshop led by NIIT Foundation. The sessions were welcoming and practical, breaking down ideas like planning budgets, tracking expenses, and starting a saving habit. With a little encouragement and guidance, Laxmi began to see her finances differently. Bit by bit, she took control of her household budget, started saving every month, and found the confidence to clear old loans.
The transformation wasn’t just about money. Empowered with knowledge, Laxmi began guiding others in her community, sharing what she had learned and helping fellow women make better choices for their families.
